We know that a lot of our customers, like some of us here at the farm, are keen juicers and turn our kale and cucumbers into mind-blowing, health-kicking juices at the touch of a button. Whilst the compost is hungry for the pulp there are many interesting ways to use it so that your can make the most of our farm-fresh vegetables.
Plant To Eat‘s website has a great recipe for some Breakfast Muffins using the pulp from juiced apples, beetroot, carrots and spinach but why not try kale instead or any leafy green. Add a lemon for that extra kick and you’ve got a pulp to be proud of! You can juice the leaves of your beetroots too, so nothing need go to waste. Plant To Eat also list ten ways to use your pulp, from mixing it with cream cheese for a spread to incorporating it into bread, crackers and even pancakes. As the website’s American measurements are in cups so to help you with conversion if you don’t have cups at home – one cup is equal to 235ml so simply measure all your ingredients, wet and dry, in a measuring jug.
We also found some great suggestions on the Vegetarian Times’ website, including ‘pulpsicles‘ if you’re a fruit juicer, dog treats and even body scrubs. For their full list take a look at their 20 Things to do with Leftover Juice Pulp article here.
Happy pulp-cycling!
