We’re pledging to grow 100,000 meals in 2013 on the farm!

Capital Growth is challenging London to grow enough food to be used for a million different meals in the capital. Here on Sutton Community Farm we’ve stepped up to the challenge and have pledged to grow 100,000 meals between now and the end of 2013. That’s a lot of vegetables – 8 metric tons to be precise! A punchy figure, but we think we’re up to the challenge.

As well as inspiring Londoners to grow Capital Growth are trying to find out how much food is being grown in the city. Measuring what we grow is a great way to see how productive our space is, helping us to figure out what works well and not so well on our land. Sharing that data is going to provide really useful information to help Capital Growth show the value of urban food growing in London to funders, policy makers, landowners and the vegetable-eating population!
