Most weeks we have a small surplus left over after delivery day – which we put to good use by offering it to our volunteers to take home. But what to do in the week just before we broke for Christmas? We didn’t want to leave it to rot, so we decided to find a good home for it.
Luckily we found out that there was a special Christmas dinner planned for people in Wallington, including for elders who might otherwise spend Christmas alone and instead could have a jolly time in good company with a lovely lunch. So we got in touch with the organisers, Churches Together in Beddington and Wallington, who were happy to use our surplus fresh veg.
We’ve just received these photos of the big day. A big thanks to Frances, who came to collect the veg, and to all the diners who made sure it didn’t go to waste!
