For the first time in several years, we’re making adjustments to our products, prices and packaging. We’ve spent a huge amount of time thinking about this; reviewing, developing and testing the changes. It’s a change we need to make to move the VegBox and farm forward, helping us become a more sustainable, thriving social enterprise. Here’s some key information on the rationale behind these changes:
1. Better value for money
Mostly, our VegBoxes are not becoming more expensive and the markup remains the same. If your box costs more, you are getting more for your money. With the Small VegBox, it means we can put in more higher-value products such as tomatoes, spinach, aubergines, cucumbers and peppers. As part of this work, we have done price checks against the major box schemes and we’re proud to say we’re still cheaper.
2. Helping us become a more sustainable enterprise
There are many costs in running the farm and we need to take steps to make our farm more resilient. The main adjustment has been redesigning the small boxes, as the lowest-priced boxes do not provide sufficient income to cover the costs of the delivery and overheads.
As we move forward, we need to increase our customer base to match our production, so please keep spreading the word. We’re really grateful for your support in helping build a stronger local food system and connected community.
Action Required between Monday 7th – Sunday 13th
- The new products and prices will be online from Monday 7th September.
- We are delivering the new products from Thursday 17th September.
- We don’t have capacity to make up both old and new bags, so we’re asking customers to adjust their orders between Monday 7th – Sunday 13th.
Please take one of the actions below. We’ll send out a reminder on Monday 7th Sep. We’ve tried to make it nice and easy:
Option 1: Edit your order online
- Log in to
- Click on “Regular Order”
- Under Edit Regular Order, click on “Add to or amend regular order”
- Remove all items in your shopping basket by clicking on the cross “x”
- Click on “Continue Shopping”
- Add the new products into your basket.
- When ready, click on “Checkout”. Confirm your delivery and follow instructions for updating your payment. Please make sure you follow these steps through until your order has been confirmed.
- You’re done! You will receive an email confirming your order.
Option 2: By email to vegbox@suttoncommunityfarm.org.uk
Email us your desired order going forward. We will respond, asking you to confirm with us your order. This email will satisfy our payment processor, GoCardless, so we can go ahead and make the adjustment to your payments. The email must be from the email address you used to register on our website/GoCardless.
Note: if you don’t update your order in time (before Sunday midnight on 13th September), you will still receive your VegBag but we’ll contact you to remind you again. We’re not planning to change our prices for a long-time and we’ve worked with our developer to make it much easier next time. We want to make the customer experience as smooth as possible, and we are very grateful to you all for your patience.
