How it works

As long as we can keep growing, we plan to carry on delivering your veg to you! We do need to make some adjustments to our service though – please check this blog post for updated information during the pandemic.

Our VegBox Scheme delivers fresh, seasonal fruit and vegetables to the community each week. Orders are placed online in advance for delivery the following week. We stock other organic fruit and veg, plus bread and eggs from local suppliers, and some items from further afield.

Here are some frequently asked questions but do contact us if you have further queries.

How does my order support the farm?

Our farm is an inclusive, welcoming space for the community to learn new skills, get exercise and make friends. We are passionate about sustainable agriculture, supporting land-based employment and education. We have two apprentices, 35 weekly volunteers and regular groups from schools, disability colleges, vulnerable adults who are referred to us, and community services. Our farm relies on the income from our not-for-profit VegBox Scheme to support it financially.

How do I pay?

Our secure billing system is handled by GoCardless and we have been working with them for over five years. It works like a direct debit but you are only charged for the weeks that you receive a delivery. You will be asked for your bank account details when you set up your first order.

Is there a minimum order?

Yes, the minimum order is £13.20 – the same price as our smallest VegBox (it’s actually a fruit box!)

Can I make a one-off order?

Yes! Once you have created an account you can amend individual deliveries by clicking on the appropriate date and then ‘Amend delivery’. You may want to set up a ‘regular delivery’ so that you receive the same vegbox each week (or fortnightly, every three weeks or once a month), but again you can amend individual deliveries to suit your needs and preferences each week.

When and where do you deliver?

Our order deadline is midnight each Sunday. We deliver to both homes and pick-up points on the following Thursdays and Fridays. See where we deliver for more information.

If you want to change your delivery mode/option for a particular week, please do this by midnight Sunday.

There is a £2.50 charge for home deliveries, a £1.75 charge for delivery to a pick-up point, and its free if you collect from the farm! We do not make a profit on delivery fees, we simply pass on the actual cost of delivering to you.

The map below shows the pick-up points that we currently deliver to. If you have an idea for a new pick-up point, please contact us.

What’s in a typical VegBox?

Visit our Farm Shop to get an idea of sizes and a link to our weekly box contents. This calendar gives you a feel for what items to expect at different times of the year. Visit our home page for weekly recipe inspiration and our recipe bank.

Where do the vegetables come from?

We grow as much produce on our 7.1 acre farm as possible and to keep a good variety of vegetables in our boxes, we source from other local producers too, and sometimes from Europe, particularly for fruit. Bananas are the only item we source from outside Europe. You can read more about our sourcing policy here.

What if I’m going on holiday or need to cancel for a week?

Please let us know by midnight on the Sunday before your delivery. You can cancel upcoming orders easily on your online account. No payment will be taken if you do not have an order.
