We’re excited to announce a new partnership with one of the U.K.’s top chefs and restauranteurs, Mark Hix.
Hix is an avid supporter of seasonal produce and this passion is reflected through the menus of all his restaurants over the U.K.
When he discovered he could source vegetables for his London restaurants as close to the city as we are, he jumped at the chance to work with the farm and came down for a visit. He fell in love with our salad leaves and decided to create his own ‘Hix Mix’ which included Minutina – a member of the plantain family whose salty flavour divides opinion on taste! But we love it, and so does Hix.
Hix says of Sutton Community Farm, “This is an important project for London… a local urban food growing initiative and a farm that teaches and inspires its community and surrounding areas to create a real, life long relationship with the food they eat.”
But Hix has offered us more than just the regular purchasing our surplus stock, he has also offered us his East London restaurant, The Tramshed, as a base to sell our VegBoxes from each Saturday. WOW. So, if you’re East London based, or know anyone who is, pop down to The Tramshed to purchase one of our Large VegBoxes this Saturday from midday onwards.
