We’re please as punch to have partnered up with London’s very first co-operatively owned pub – The Ivy House in Nunhead – who are our latest South London pick-up point. From today, you can order our community farm’s fresh and tasty VegBoxes and collect them each week from this landmark pub within the Nunhead bounds. And, this isn’t just any pub, Elvis Costello, Ian Dury and Joe Strummer have played on its stage and it was recently saved from being turned into flats.
The Ivy House is London’s first co-operatively owned pub and the first pub to be listed as an Asset of Community Value, as well as the first building in the UK to be bought for the community under the provisions of the Localism Act. The pub reopened in 2013 and is now building a reputation as one of London’s finest real ale and craft beer pubs, as well as a venue for music and live events.
The Ivy House has eight real ales and ciders on hand pull and a wide range of craft beer in keg and bottle. They stock the best of London’s breweries as well as a variety of interesting beers from further afield; their aim is to have something to please every taste, from real ale enthusiasts to traditional lager drinkers to the craft beer connoisseur.
They offer an extensive choice of food (watch out for our farm’s fresh produce on the menu!) and a carefully chosen wine list supplied by Liberty Wines of Clapham. Ethical coffee is also served, from the Dulwich based Volcano Coffee. What’s more, The Ivy House is dog-friendly, cyclist-loving (there are bike racks outside) and welcomes vegetarians and vegans.
Now you can see why we’re smiling so much to have their support! Order your VegBox online today and select “Nunhead: The Ivy House” as your pick-up point to join our VegBox scheme and visit a truly inspiring London pub.
