Notes from the Field

laura-jean-sargentWe’re quite excited that it’s rained a lot this week – Charlotte, one of our growers, has just had a walk around and reports that everything’s nice and damp, which means less worrying about irrigating. Thanks, Mother Nature!

Meanwhile, our sweetcorn – such a lovely sculptural crop in the field – is coming on nicely, so we’ll be looking to harvest it in the next couple of weeks – a real treat for the vegbags.

The beetroot is also doing well, and that will also be featuring in the vegbags soon. And the dwarf beans and climbing beans are also going great guns.

We’re soon going to start harvesting and drying the rest of the shallots soon, though some undried ones will also be in the bags this week.

Looking ahead, we’re planting out more salad and winter brassicas this week, including chicory, mustard and rocket. A peppery, spicy winter ahead, then!
