As Sutton Community Farm’s most recent graduate of the apprenticeship role, Harley has been working on the growing team since May 2015. Working with Joris and Sam to grow record numbers of produce, she has gained experience in every step of vegetable production.
She is interested and passionate about providing people with an alternative to the multi-flawed current food system that dominates our society. Harley aims to educate and re-connect people with good food by growing, cooking and most importantly eating! As well as getting her hands dirty out in the field she recognises the importance of teaching how to cook the produce itself and last year completed her cook-club tutor training. She has since delivered healthy cooking classes in local schools and at the farm.
Currently Harley is overseeing the many ways in which Sutton Community Farm engages with the community including organising and facilitating school visits and team volunteering days at the farm. As well as helping Joris and Sam with the weekly volunteer co-ordination, she works with young adults with learning difficulties and regularly witnesses the physical and mental health benefits of initiatives like ours!
